Description
Headquarters Army of Potomac Dec 12th /64
Dear Father & Mother.
I received your letter of the 7th inst last Saturday evening and was glad to hear from you. It had just been freezing and snowing so that it has blown up quite cold yesterday and last night was as cold as I ever felt it the wind has gone down a little to night. I wrote you a letter a few days asking you to send me a couple of pair of stocking. I wish you would send them as quick as you can as I want them very bad. The fifth Corps came back today they went as far as Weldon they say that they had a pretty good time of it. The Second Corps is on the left our old division advanced the picket line last Friday. Troops are moving all the time backwards and forwards. I am in good health and hope these lines will find you the same. When you write again let me know how Gentry's are as Bill and Charley complain that they do not get letters very often. My Captain Rulon is assistant provost marshal at City Point. All of the Bustleton boys are well. But I have told you all of the news. Write soon. And give my respects to all of my friends.
